ENERGY-EFFICIENT INSULATION
An excellent candidate to consider for the manufacture of resin-side rigid polyurethane foams, Niax silicone L-6891 is typically a highly efficient surfactant developed to improve the surface quality and minimize the thermal conductivity of rigid foams. Generally effective in improving insulation foams, this agent can be used in the production of refrigerators and other cool-store applications.
Niax silicone L-6891 is an organosilicone copolymer with a specific focus on low thermal conductivity and good surface quality. Its ability to provide extremely fine cells, good foam flow, even density distribution and minimal void formation can typically help create a finished foam product with consistently low thermal conductivity throughout the foam cabinet. This can translate to energy-efficient refrigerators and other cool-store products - with the potential for significant cost savings to manufacturers. Just 2.0 to 3.0 php are typically needed to produce foam with excellent insulating characteristics.
This high-efficiency surfactant also affords manufacturers flexibility in foam formulations. Without the risk of haziness or phase separation problems, foam manufacturers can maximize the use level of pentanes in formulations or use less soluble grades than cyclopentane, such as iso- or n-pentane. Niax silicone L-6891 can provide a fine cell structure in formulations using pure c-pentane and in formulations utilizing c-pentane in combination with other hydrocarbons.
Potential applications for Niax silicone L-6891 include:
Insulation foams in refrigerators and other cool-store applications
