WIRE AND CABLE JACKETING
A proprietary vinyl-functional silane coupling agent, Silquest G-170 silane offering substantial reduction in volatile alcohol byproducts when manufacturing wire and cable jacketing, as well as the potable water pipe. With its ability to promote adhesion between unsaturated resins and polyolefins or rubbers and inorganic substrates such as fiberglass, silica, siliceous fillers, pigments and various metal oxides, Silquest G-170 silane can enable a 5% to 10% improvement in mechanical and electrical properties when compared to traditional silanes on the market.
Silquest G-170 silane is an excellent option to consider for manufacturing EPDM cross-linked low- and medium-voltage wire and cable jacketing applications, where it can improve the wet electrical and mechanical properties of the wire and cable jacketing to help reduce the environmental impact of methyl cellosolve emissions - a common byproduct of conventional products. Silquest G-170 silane can also enable improved electrical properties, due to the strength of mineral-filled ethylene/propylene rubber composite, in addition to other polymer and resin systems. Able to enhance the strength performance of cured, filled or reinforced polyester, Silquest G-170 silane can reduce water absorption of cured polyester molding compounds, particularly diallyl phthalate compounds.
Silquest G-170 silane also offers improved bonding properties of glass filaments to polyester and other resins in fiberglass-reinforced applications, for increased cured composites' resistance to wet and humid environmental conditions.
