SILICONE ANTIFOAM COMPOUND FOR NON-AQUEOUS IN-CAN FORMULATIONS
Containing 100% actives, SAG 1538 antifoam compound is highly effective as a foam-control agent in non-aqueous, hard-to-defoam surfactant concentrates, such as those containing organic surfactants and electrolytes, where it offers initial and long-lasting foam control. SAG 1538 antifoam compound can also perform well over a broad pH range.
A versatile product, it typically is highly effective as a foam-control agent in hard-to-defoam surfactant concentrates, such as those containing organic surfactants and electrolytes, and performs well over a broad pH range. SAG 1538 antifoam also offers the potential benefits of high antifoam potency in the majority of foaming systems and long-lasting foam inhibition.
Although SAG 1538 antifoam is not immediately dispersible in water, it can be easily incorporated into surfactant concentrates by using the surfactants within the system to stabilize the antifoam within the formulation. When adding SAG 1538 antifoam to these concentrates, it should be applied slowly to moderate agitations to ensure a complete and homogenous dispersion of the antifoam.
Use levels for SAG 1538 antifoam in a final foaming system will be dependent upon the nature of the foaming system and/or the agitation that causes the generation of the foam. It is recommended to add a sufficient level of SAG 1538 antifoam at the starting point in order to achieve a final foaming formulation of between 5 ppm and 20 ppm.
